RECENT COACHING AND CONSULTING ASSIGNMENTS

ASSIGNMENT #1

Client was (ongoing) a large division of a Fortune 200 beverage and snack food producer/distributor. Chuck worked with the CEO and the VP of Talent and Inclusion to create and deliver a high potential coaching program for top young leaders in regional offices.

ASSIGNMENT #2

Client was head of large accounting department for a Fortune 200 company in the data storage industry. Chuck was called in while the company was in the process of completing its fifth acquisition in a two year period. Chuck worked with the client to help him understand how his behavior was adversely impacting an already overwhelmed and highly stressed group. By meeting with the client and all of his direct reports, Chuck was able to facilitate more open and honest communication between the client and his direct reports.

ASSIGNMENT #3

Client was the president of a division of a large multinational Fortune 100 company whose core business was insurance. Chuck worked with him to improve his delegation and follow up skills as well as his emotional steadiness. By allowing senior staff members more latitude and flexibility, numbers were up over 50% for the year on two separate lines of business.

ASSIGNMENT #4

Client was a Senior Vice President who had recently joined the staff of a cutting edge technology company whose focus was on creating software solutions for large firms in the Property and Casualty arena. Chuck assisted the client in his transition from a largely autocratic style of management to more of a participation style, which was more in line with the company culture.

ASSIGNMENT #5

Client was a Senior Vice President of Human Resources for a top five national home building company. He was challenged to help improve the performance of two Regional Presidents whose numbers were lagging behind their target goals. Chuck “shadow coached” the client, helping him identify and address these two leaders’ areas for improvement. Despite adverse market conditions, both Presidents surpassed their goals in terms of number of houses built, profit margin and gross income.

ASSIGNMENT #6

Client was the COO of a large corporate entity who recently created a new line of business in the durable medical equipment industry. Chuck was brought in to assist him in creating a workable structure for the business, identify and develop his top talent, and transition from start up mode to more mature business practices. This division greatly surpassed all goals and expectations and did so within two years as opposed to the five originally projected.

ASSIGNMENT #7

Client was a high potential executive in a top 100 financial management company. Chuck worked with him to expand his ability to relate to varied individuals and personalities. They worked together on creating greater executive presence as well as his capacity to manage up and laterally. Within a year of this assignment, client was promoted to lead a group of experienced and veteran financial/investment advisors, which he did very successfully.

ASSIGNMENT #8

Client was the Deputy Director of a large state agency who was looking to improve the skills of his management team because of the impending retirement of nearly 30% of his top managers. This was a group whose experience and education varied widely. He hired Chuck to conduct two day long coaching skills workshops and a series of follow up calls and correspondence. The client reported to Chuck that the training was instrumental in readying his executives for their new assignments as his top managers retired at a rate of 5-7 per month.

ASSIGNMENT #9

Client was the Managing Partner of a national commercial real estate company. He hired Chuck to work with his high potential executives on both their presentation and their managerial skills. Through a series of one on one meetings and group workshops, Chuck was able to assist the executives in becoming more confident and polished presenters as well as more effective one on one communicators.

ASSIGNMENT #10

Client was a CEO of a large division of a Fortune 100 company in the healthcare industry.Chuck was hired for several projects, including an employee retention initiative. By visiting and interviewing nurse case managers in offices located in 5 different cities, Chuck was able to create and help execute a plan that reduced employee turnover from approximately 42% to less than 20% in a one year period. This reduction saved the company in excess of a million dollars for that fiscal year.

ASSIGNMENT #11

Client was a veteran upper level manager for a Fortune 500 real estate services company being considered for promotion to a director’s level position. She possessed good technical skills in her job function and excellent managerial and leadership skills with her direct reports. Chuck helped her to improve her skills of influence with her upper managers by helping her focus on thinking more like a salesperson when interacting with her bosses. Chuck and the client also worked on her ability to see her bosses as human beings, which allowed her to feel more confident and to present a more powerful executive presence. She was promoted to Director and has done extremely well in that capacity.

ASSIGNMENT #12

Client was Senior Vice President of accounting for a Fortune 300 company in the IT industry. Chuck was hired to design and facilitate a one-day workshop with follow-up to address stress management and work/life balance issues, due to concerns about overwork and potential employee burnout. Through the workshop and subsequent follow up calls and meetings, the employees designed a number of solutions that help redistribute workload and headed off a great deal of employee burnout and turnover.

The Coaches of Berke Associates all hold Masters degrees and are themselves systemically trained through the Berke Associates Corporate Training Program.
